Free In Home Reading Program
Teaching Early Reading Skills to Your Child
Reading Together at Home is a weekly program in your home that helps teach your child to read. A Reading Specialist from Via of the Lehigh Valley will work with you to teach basic pre-reading and reading skills to your child in a fun and interactive way. Via's Reading Specialist have weekly sessions at your home with parents/caregivers and young children.
Via's Reading Together at Home provides young children up to age 5 and their parents with weekly reading sessions with a Via Reading Specialist. Reading Together at Home includes weekly home visits with each family and monthly community meetings with all the Reading Together at Home participants.
To make reading fun, families take part in storytelling, play and conversations at monthly community classes.
This program, funded in part by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, the Verna O. Canova Foundation, the PPL Foundation and Martin Sheffield, is FREE for families who live in City of Allentown.
Develop Stepping Stones to Reading
Children that are exposed to books and reading at a young age are better prepared for school. Learning early pre-reading and reading skills, starting at birth, help a child's overall ability to read, write and learn.
- Help your child by teaching them the early literacy skills necessary to learn to read.
- Home based program with weekly sessions working directly with you and your child.
- Pre-reading and reading skills taught in a fun and interactive way.
Adult must be able to join weekly 1 hour session in home.
- Must live in city of Allentown.
- Child is between 0 to 5 years old.
